Cara Friez is a Pittsburgh-based media production professional, educator, and creative strategist with extensive experience across video production, post-production, marketing, and curriculum development.
Cara has produced, shot, and edited content for a wide range of clients and platforms, including CBS's "As the World Turns", The Andy Warhol Museum, Spirit Airlines, MSC Cruises, and Miami City Ballet, among others. Her early career included production work with the Discovery Channel and National Geographic. Most recently, she was a producer and edited "pride/prom", a feature-length documentary spotlighting the LGBTQ+ prom at The Andy Warhol Museum through the stories of three young people. Her editorial work has been recognized with Davey, Telly, and Lovie Awards, including a Best in Show honor at the Davey Awards.
A passionate educator, Cara served as a Tenured Associate Professor and Chair of the Cinema Arts Department at Point Park University, where she taught for seven years and developed curriculum, signature programs, and initiatives that significantly improved student retention and community. She later served as Director of Education at EditMentor, where she built a comprehensive post-production and filmmaking curriculum adopted by major institutions including Purdue University and LAUSD.
Cara holds an MFA in Motion Pictures and Television from the Academy of Art University and a BS in Communication - Media Production from East Carolina University. She is an Avid Certified Media Composer Instructor and Adobe Certified Professional in Premiere Pro.
